Museums Sheffield: Weston Park (formerly City Museum)

At the Museum visitors can find out about archaeology, natural history, decorative arts and social history. The archaeology collections include over half a million artefacts made and used by people throughout history and in the extensive natural history galleries there are hundreds of animals, ranging from the smallest insect to everyone's favourite big white polar bear. The decorative arts collection includes ceramics, glass, clocks, while the social history collection tells us about the lives of everyday people in Sheffield. The museum has a gallery which shows temporary
exhibitions.

The Museum is unique because it is the only museum in the country that is also a weather station. Readings are taken daily and passed on to the weather centre in Leeds where they are used to forecast the regional weather.
