About Apollo Victoria Theatre

Called the New Victoria Cine-Variety Theatre when it opened in 1930, its name was changed to the Apollo Victoria Theatre when it reopened after a five-year closing in 1981. Its original décor included a very long balcony to seat 2500 people and a large Wurlitzer organ. When it opened again in 1981, many changes were made to enable the theatre to stage concerts and live theatre.

Among live entertainers who worked there are such names as Sammy Davis, Jr, Shirley Bassey, and Cliff Richard. "The Sound of Music" with Petula Clark as well as "Camelot" and "Fiddler on the Roof" have been presented in this theatre.

For a while, over 1200 seats were removed to make space for a roller skating track and for Andrew Lloyd Weber's Starlight Express musical.

The theatre is able to seat 2786 viewers on two levels.
