About Apollo Shaftesbury Theatre

With 796 seats available on four levels, this theatre features light comedy and farce. It opened its doors on February 21, 1901, with a play called "Belle of Bohemia", a month after the death of Queen Victoria.

The early days of the Apollo were dedicated mostly to musical comedies. It has had a couple of success stories which began here and then transferred to the Duchess Theatre. One was "Boeing Boeing". Another was Camoletti's "Don't Dress for Dinner".

Be warned that the balcony, which is the third tier, is the steepest in London.
