Crossing the estuary (and an RSPB reserve) and winding round the coast, the railway offers excursions to Machynlleth and Pwllheli. Fine sandy beaches, walking, fishing and sailing are found along the coast. Harlech’s championship golf, theatre and castle are just 11 miles, whilst Portmeirion Italianate village and Porthmadog are about 15 miles. A range of outdoor activities including climbing, walking, skiing and whitewater rafting are available in the lakes and mountains of the Snowdonia National Park.
