Hudswell is a small village located just two miles the town of Richmond in Swaledale. Set in rolling countryside, the village boasts a high street with old houses lining the route, and a local pub, the George and Dragon. Like many village pubs, it recently fell on difficult times, so the villagers clubbed together and now run it as a 'Community Pub Initiative'. The market town of Richmond stands to the north of the River Swale. The town grew up around its castle and today there are wonderful walks to be enjoyed by the castle or alongside the River Swale where there are parks, safe paddling areas and small waterfalls. Narrow streets and alleys radiate from the cobbled Market Place (which has a weekly market and monthly farmers' market) and there are numerous shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

A comfortable house in a beautiful Yorkshire village. Very peaceful, not on a busy main road. Wonderful scenery, is as good as it gets, and just a few minutes drive to the interesting Georgian town of Richmond. Supermarket shopping down the road in Catterick. Just a few miles from the brewery village of Masham for a drop of real beer and good food. Good cheese available in Wensleydale! The village pub is a must, very welcoming, and just how you imagine a village pub should be.
Mrs Holt, York, East Riding of Yorkshire
August 2013

,Beautiful location in a lovely village, with very friendly locals, close to Richmond, and with superb local scenery. Great accommodation with a lovely enclosed rear garden.
Mr Knox, Greenock, Inverclyde
June 2013

,The accommodation was ideally situated as we were on a weeks fishing holiday and had the choice of five different venues. The landlord was very friendly and helpful. We frequented the local ale house, which was great and we gave them some of our trout that we caught. Everyone from the village took time to speak to us, either in the street, the garden or the pub. We were made to feel as we were part of the village which made for a very enjoyable stay indeed.
Mr Conway, Bishop Auckland, Durham
May 2013

,Good position, good village and all very friendly in the pub.
Mr Smylie, Bristol, Somerset
February 2013
