Low Mill
Low Mill is on the banks of the River Eden, beautifully sited with views of open countryside yet within walking distance (500 yards) of Kirkby Stephen. The cottage is in a rural setting but where you won't be needing the car for shopping or eating out.
Low Mill has been recently refurbished but still with exposed beams to hint at the history of the building. There is a fitted fully-equipped kitchen with separate dining area and a large lounge with a wood-burning stove. Central heating is provided and the house is comfortably furnished and cleanly redecorated throughout.
Kirkby Stephen is a pretty market town with many shops and cafes / restaurants / pubs. It regularly wins "best large village" awards in local and national 'best kept' competitions. It is close to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks(*). The Howgill Fells and the North Pennines are even closer. Kirkby Stephen station is on the famous Settle - Carlisle railway line.
(*As of August 2016, even closer to the national parks as the boundaries have been redrawn!)
At Low Mill there is off-street parking for up to three cars, a secure south-facing deck overlooking the river, plus garden and patio. Your pets are welcome and for dog-owners the beautiful walks start pretty much at the front door.
There are two bedrooms: one double with a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room; one family with one double and one single bed. There is also a family bathroom with a shower over the bath.
The fittings in the large kitchen/dining room include a dishwasher and washing machine.
Low Mill is a 'no smoking' house, please.
Following a number of requests we have included free wi-fi access. That also allows a "Smart TV" with iPlayer.
Kirkby Stephen is a "Walkers are Welcome" towns and villages - places which have something special to offer walkers. Within Low Mill there are details of good local walks and OS maps that you can use when walking away from the cottage. There are pubs at some of the local villages (Winton, Nateby, Great Asby, Ravenstonedale, Brough) where a lunch stop can be included in the day's walk.
