Toad Hall Cottages are delighted to present a picturesque cottage from the beginning of 2014. Bridge Cottage is a delightful, detached, period property set in the heart of a valley in the peaceful South Hams countryside. Very private and recently refurbished, the house is stylish and elegant and retains much of its original character and charm with plenty of exposed beams. The large gardens and terrace are ideal for al fresco dining and a brook running down the side of the garden further enhances the overall ambience of a peaceful rural idyll. Set in the hamlet of Washbourne, this delightful spot is equidistant between Dartmouth and the medieval market town of Totnes and close to the west bank of the river Dart where there is an excellent choice of restaurant pubs and plenty of opportunity for messing around in boats.
Accommodation:
Porch to front door that opens to a tiled boot room. Here there is plenty of room for coats and wellingtons and there is a washing machine, fridge and electric oven with twin hobs.The adjacent kitchen has a gas fired Rayburn, oak units, gas hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and breakfast table for two. Attractive spacious sitting room with two large sofas, arm chair, bean bags, beamed lintel over the hearth inset with a wood burner, Sky (with Sky Plus) TV/DVD and French doors to the conservatory diner. This attractive room overlooks the gardens and has a dining table to seat 8 and access to the garden. Off the conservatory is a downstairs shower room with shower wet room, basin and WC. Adjacent double bedroom with handsome wrought iron 4ft 6in bedstead. Stairs from the sitting room to small landing. Two very pretty double bedrooms, both with 4ft 6in beds and single pull-out truckle beds beneath, window seats, oak flooring with rugs and set beneath exposed ‘A’ frames. Family bathroom with bath, basin and WC.
Outside:
The gated entrance leads in from a quiet lane to an ample parking area and car port. The large garden has wide level enclosed lawns with trees, a Wendy house and is bordered on one side by the river Wash which can be accessed through a couple of gates. A terraced area alongside the conservatory is provided with table, chairs and parasol.
