Buckland Court is located in delightful South Hams countryside 1.5 miles from the historic village of Slapton, South Devon with its world famous nature reserve, 3 mile beach and excellent real ale pubs. Dartmouth and Kingsbridge are within 15 minutes drive, both with interesting shops, fine restaurants, boat trips, sailing and much more. Totnes, a quaint Elizabethan town is 9 miles away and Dartmoor, with wonderful walking and spectacular scenery is within easy reach. Buckland Court is well situated for a wide range of indoor and outdoor pursuits including golf (see ‘applicable to all cottages’ for discount details).
The cottages are very comfortable and well furnished and set around a pretty courtyard with summer hanging baskets and benches. The kitchens are well equipped with gas hobs, cooker extractor hoods, built-under ovens, fridges and microwaves. All beds are standard size (4ft 6in doubles, 3ft singles). The bathrooms all have a shower over the bath, hand basin and WC. All cottages have central heating, a gas fire in the living area and are equipped with iron and ironing board. There is a large communal laundry room with coin operated washing machine, dryer and freezer. There is a large range of local information and in season a small incubator, who knows what you might see hatch during your stay! Water is supplied through filtered and tested borehole water. The resident caretaker keeps a whiteboard up to date with the latest sightings of wildlife, can lend you a bat detector, a metal detector or a telescope and is conversant in German and French. He is always ready with suggestions that will help you get the most out of your holiday.
Accommodation:
Maple offers self-contained, tastefully decorated first floor accommodation with private landing and entrance hall, leading to a light and airy open plan living room. This comprises; comfortable sofa, chairs and window seat; dining table to seat 4; TV/DVD FM Radio; fully equipped kitchen with gas hob, electric oven, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher. Off the entrance hall, there is one double bedroom and one twin-bedded room, both with built-in wardrobes and matching pine furniture. There is a bright and spacious bathroom incorporating bath with shower over, basin and WC. Hairdryer provided. This first floor location has the benefit of a delightful outlook, with views across the courtyard and up the tree lined driveway.
Outside:
An archway in the corner of the lower courtyard (separated by a substantial gate) opens out to a large pond populated by ducks and a sweep of grass and orchard (1.5 acres) including a built in barbecue with picnic benches where guests can relax and young people can play outdoor games.
Parking: Car parking in the drive, not in the lower courtyard except for loading and unloading.
