Formerly a granary, Yeoman’s Cottage, attached on one side of a lovely thatched Devon longhouse, is situated at the end of a no-through road at the head of a 12 acre beautiful, hidden valley edged with trees and where a former cider orchard with ornamental trees slopes down to two ponds naturally fed by local springs. The area is a natural habitat for ducks, moorhens, herons and a Preservation Area for the Cirl Bunting. In the distance the heights of Salcombe can be seen, but all that can be heard is the sound of birdsong, a magical and very peaceful spot. The cottage has been well restored, is centrally heated, comfortably furnished with lovely views from the main rooms and is a true hideaway in this secluded hollow, ideal for a small family or couples who want to get away from it all. The sea at North Sands and South Sands is only a mile by footpath and Salcombe a mile further. Walking is spectacular whatever the season, over cliffs, headlands and woodland owned by the National Trust.  A welcoming bottle of wine is provided on arrival.

Accommodation:

Large hallway/boot room with doors to both the main house and the cottage. Front door into charming living room divided into two separate areas. The sitting area is most comfortably furnished with two sofas, rugs on the wood floor, 32” LCD Freeview digital TV with DVD, CD Hi-Fi, large feature fireplace housing a wood burner and a window seat with lovely valley views. The kitchen area is well fitted and equipped with electric ceramic hob, built-under double oven, dishwasher, microwave, integrated larder fridge, freezer and washing machine. Dining table to seat 4. Upstairs: Open plan bedroom with wardrobe and fine kingsize 5ft bedstead. French windows open to a small balcony from which to enjoy the views. Newly fitted en-suite bathroom with bath, electric Mira shower over, basin, WC and heated towel rail. Adjoining bedroom with single 3ft bed, chest of drawers and window to the rear.

Outside:

The property is approached up a long private drive. To the front of the cottage is an extensive sun patio with a table, chairs and barbecue. Ther are 12 acres of meadow with sea views in parts, which guests are welcome to use.

Parking: For several cars in front of owners’ garages alongside the cottage.
