Geffrye Museum

One of London's most friendly and enjoyable museums, the Geffrye specialises in the domestic interiors of the urban middle class. Its displays span from 1600 to 2000, forming a sequence of period rooms which capture the quintessential nature of English interior style. The museum is set in elegant, 18th century buildings, just north of the City. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens including an award-winning walled herb garden and a series of historical garden rooms which highlight the key changes in urban middle-class gardens from the 17th to the 20th centuries (open April to October). The museum and gardens are regularly brought to life through an innovative programme of special exhibitions, seminars, workshops, drama and music. Restaurant and gift shop.
