Devorgilla, Lady of Galloway, founded the 13th-14th century Cistercian abbey in memory of her husband John Baliol. The main feature is the well-preserved precinct wall enclosing 30 acres. In the presbytery Devorgilla is buried with her husband's embalmed heart.
