Heaton Cooper Studio

The Studio in the centre of Grasmere contains a distinctive vision of Lakeland in all its varying aspects from rushing becks or quiet reflections on lakes to clear blue skies and snow on the high fells. A permanent exhibition of watercolours and colour reproductions by W. Heaton Cooper R.I. and his father A. Heaton Cooper (1863-1929), who are recognised as the most eminent artists of the are, is open throughout the year. The extensive range of Lake District prints and greetings cards is the largest collection in the area and has been carefully built up over the past 50 years in order to give the visitor a lasting impression of Lakeland. We have an interesting and comprehensive range of artists materials along with our own framing workshop on the premises. Sculptures by Ophelia Gordon Bell are on display in the gallery.
