Hampton Court's Van Kampen Gardens are extensive new gardens in the historic grounds of the medieval fortified manor house. There is a walled flower garden, herbaceous borders, canals, pavilions, follies, a maze and a secret tunnel, a hermit's grotto, waterfalls and a flooded sunken garden. The Orangery Restaurant serves light lunches, tea and cake from a grand Joseph Paxton designed greenhouse adjoining the castle. The kitchen garden is entirely organic and grows fruit and vegetables for the restaurant. The garden shop sells gifts and artefacts, wherever possible, sourced locally.
