Single trip insurance is available for UK trips provided it is for a booked accommodation and not for a hostel or caravan etc. or with friends and is more than 50 miles from home and for at least 2 nights. If you have annual travel insurance you may be covered, but check your policy carefully.

Other insurances worth considering are health insurance and possessions insurance as well as normal travel insurance. So private ambulance is a good idea to transport to their home local hospital and bring them all home.

Your holiday accommodation will normally be covered under its own insurance policy. However, in certain circumstances, if you cause any loss or damage by negligence, you could become liable and you would probably not be covered by the personal liability section of your own household policy.

If you are thinking of participating in any extreme sporting activities whilst on holiday - such as sailing, riding, rock climbing, skiing and other winter and outdoor sports - check specifically with your insurance provider that you are covered while doing these sports.
