Hand Hotel, The | Built in 1610 during the reign of James I, this hotel is one of the oldest in north-east Wales and has been tastefully modernised without losing its historical character.
The hotel was initially a coaching inn serving the Shrewsbury to Betws-y-Coed section of the London to Holyhead coaching route. Now under new management, the owners have striven to revive the hotel’s former glory. Staff aim to offer a high standards in their food, beverages and accommodation, as well as an added personal touch. The hotel offers many amenities which cater for all kinds of guests including families, walkers, and business executives. Special attention will be paid to each guest’s individual needs and requirements. For many centuries, The Hand Hotel was a coaching inn for the travellers from London to Dublin. The hotel still offers a very warm atmosphere and has earned itself a good reputation for its great service. The bars offer a relaxing and happy atmosphere and the Brewery Suite caters for dinners, conferences and weddings. In the warmer months, the garden provides a lovely setting for champagne weddings and buffets. The residents’ lounge is a snug room for residents only. The room is situated close to the lounge bar, and also has access to music facilities. Use the residents’ lounge to escape the busy bustle of our public bar. The Regency restaurant is a suburb period room with a late 1800s style. The room is classical, grand and impressive, and can accommodate up to 60 people. |  | By Car: From the Midlands: - Travel along the M54 onto the A5. - From there, follow the road towards Chirk. From the North: - Follow the M6 which will lead you to Chester. - Then join onto the M53 which leads you directly into Chirk. - Once in Chirk follow the main Holyhead road and we are situated across from the town cenotaph. Car Parking There is free, secure car parking in our own car park to the side of the hotel, as well as substantial free parking at the rear. Access for trucks and coaches is also possible via the front or the rear entrances. By Train The local train station is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. |
