Macbeth is among the best known of William Shakespeare's plays, and is his shortest surviving tragedy.The best-known tragedy of Shakespeare is not family entertainment but serious fare for lovers of the macabre tales of yesteryear.
The account is loosely built around the life of King Macbeth of Scotland. Interwoven themes include betrayal, power lust, murder and the attempts to cover up the identity of the murderer. Three witches interrupt a conversation between Macbeth and an army general concerning a wartime victory. The witches make predictions regarding Macbeth and the general; the predicted pronouncements quickly appear to be factual, leading Macbeth to believe that he will become the King of Scotland.
Macbeth and his domineering wife concoct a plan to kill the present king, which Macbeth does under duress. They manage to shift blame for the murder to others who flee the country.
The second of the witches' predictions has a bad effect on Macbeth who plans another murder.
This famous tragedy by the Bard has spooky characters, imaginary blood stains, and a lot of elements which morticians would relish. It is one of the earlier versions of a horror story.
