A Midsummer Night's Dream - Show Information

Shakespeare's delightful comedy of four young lovers and 'rude mechanicals', set amidst the enchanted woods of the Fairy Kingdom.

When a quartet of bickering young lovers find themselves in a magical forest after fleeing the restraints of Athenian life, the fairy king Oberon is concerned to see that the natural state of things is slipping out of balance. Frustrated also by his feud with the fairy queen Titania, Oberon enlists the mischievous Puck to minister a special love-potion which will re-direct the wayward passions, and restore order to the lives of lovers and fairies alike.

Elsewhere in the forest, a motley group of artisans becomes unwittingly caught up in Oberon's machinations. No sooner has his plan begun than the fairy king is faced with an ever more confusing web to untangle.

With its liberal smattering of fairies, love potions, bestiality and puns, A Midsummer Night's Dream remains one of Shakespeare's best loved comedies.
