London theatre information:
Getting to London theatres

Central London is very busy, particularly the West End. Street parking around theatreland is very limited, though there are a number of car parks nearby within walking distance of most of the theatres. Unless you need to drive we strongly advise using public transport, where possible, to get to West End theatres. For information call the 24 Hour London Transport information line on 020 7 222 1234.

London Underground
There are a number of Underground stations around the West End and most theatres are less than five minutes walk from one or more station. Trains are frequent and the trains run till midnight so you should have no trouble getting home.

London Buses
Daytime buses run till around midnight. The night buses leave Trafalgar Square or Piccadilly Circus and go to most areas of Greater London. Night buses start at midnight and run at intervals during the night.

Taxis
Licensed London taxis (black cabs) are available throughout central London so you should have no trouble finding one. Black cabs are safer and more reliable than the private taxis.

Trains
If you are coming from outside central London then you will probably need to use a Train that will drop you off in one of the Railway Stations in central London. You can then hop on a bus, Tube or Taxi. The last train from London stations can be from 10.30pm to 1.00am, depending on your destination. Call the 24 Hour National Rail Enquiries on 08457 484950 to make sure you don't miss the last train home.

Car Parking
If you must drive in London then you will have to find somewhere to park near the theatre, which is not easy as street parking is hard to find.
On street parking meters and single yellow line restrictions apply between 8.30am and 6.30pm Monday to Saturday throughout most of the West End (City of Westminster and Borough of Camden). Generally, after 6.30pm and at any time on Sunday, you may park free of charge on meters and on single yellow lines, but always check to be sure.

There are also a number of car parks around the West End. You should check out the Westminster City Council car parks Theatreland Parking Scheme which allows you 50% off Parking when you visit the theatre. You must get your car park ticket validated at the theatre's box office counter (the theatre attendant will insert the car parking ticket into a small machine which updates the information held on the magnetic strip on the reverse, thus enabling the discount). When you pay using the machines at the car park, 50% will be deducted from the full tariff. You may park for up to 72 hours using this scheme and it is endorsed by the Society of London Theatre. To find out more check out the Westminster City Council car parks website.
