Rectory Cottage

Rectory Cottage,Dorchester Information
Rectory Cottage is a 19th Century former village Post Office situated in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty in the heart of Dorset's Piddle Valley. We are surrounded by walks through the most breathtaking scenery, plus golf courses, coarse fishing, badger watching, shooting and many other outdoor activities are close by. The historic County town of Dorchester lies eight miles to the south, with its museums, shops and weekly market, as well as its links with the famous author Thomas Hardy. Sherborne is nine miles to the north. This beautiful town is built from local sandstone and boasts a wonderful Abbey as well as Sherborne Castle and gardens and a weekly farmers market. Our guest accommodation enjoys lovely views over the farmland directly behind the cottage, and has a large adjoining private bathroom. Breakfast is served in the dining room where we hope to tempt you with a choice of cooked breakfast using local ingredients where possible, plus an array of cereals, toast and home made jams and marmalade. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in your room along with a TV and integrated DVD player. There is a choice of no fewer than five local pubs three of which have lovely riverside gardens where you can sit whilst enjoying your drinks and excellent local cuisine. We look forward to sharing this beautiful part of England with you.
