The George Hotel and Brasserie creates a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy first class cuisine. The hotel has developed an excellent reputation for dining in Kent and has won countrywide acclaim from industry experts. The hotel has now been recognised for its culinary excellence with an AA rosette and inclusion in The Good Food Guide 2008. This prestigious acknowledgement is awarded to no more than 1,200 UK restaurants out of some 30,000 and this places the hotel amongst some of the finest restaurants in Kent and across the UK.
The cuisine mirrors the hotels décor, using a contemporary approach to cast new light on traditional classics. The hotel offers a modern English menu with dishes carefully selected by the head chef. These include vegetarian and children's options. All of the ingredients are freshly prepared and sourced, where possible, from local producers. The food is complimented by a carefully selected wine list, which features everything from famous French wines to the lesser-known new world wines of the southern hemisphere.
Guests can enjoy their food in the hotels dining room or in the vibrant atmosphere of the brasserie. The dining room is one of the oldest and most striking parts of the hotel and the main focal point is a magnificent, 16th century inglenook fireplace. Beautiful original features, such as heavy wood beams and leadlight windows, contrast with contemporary oak furniture and features, comfortable leather chairs and opulent chandeliers. The brasserie is situated at the front of the hotel with a pleasant outlook onto Cranbrooks Stone Street, the vestry hall and St Dunstans Church beyond.
