Southampton
Red Funnel operates a car ferry and a fast catamaran passenger service to the Isle of Wight, while Hythe Ferry operates a passenger ferry service to the other side of Southampton Water. Both the companies have terminals at Town Quay.M4, M3 and M25 make Southampton accessible from London which is around 80 miles away, towards its north-east. M27 links the city to Bournemouth and other western counties, whilst to Brighton to its east. Car parking is pay and display in the city centre, but free on the streets further away from the hubbub.

South West Trains link the city to London as well as Portsmouth on the south coast which lies towards its east. This company also offers a budget ticket option for London called ‘Megatrain’. Southern Railway passes London Gatwick airport on its way to Southampton. First Great Western offer service to Cardiff, Bath and Bristol. CrossCountry Trains connect the city to the far north of England.
