Yeovilton Air Day
Yevilton Day is celebrated on July 11 each year to commemorate the formation of Royal Naval Air Service, which later came to be known as Fleet Air Arm. In 1909, the day also marked the commissioning of a Naval Airship for the first time by the Admiralty. The event takes place at Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton, which is situated seven miles to the north of Yeovil in Somerset.
The day starts of with a thrilling air display that features an array of vintage aircraft, which rendered yeoman service during the two World Wars, alongside the most modern ones such as the Eurofighter Typhoon, the Navy Strike Wing Harrier GR9. The day culminates in a magnificent pyrotechnic spectacle.
