Wimbledon Tennis Championships
The Wimbledon tennis championship, commonly referred to as "Wimbledon", is the oldest and one of the most prestigious events in tennis. The Wimbledon tennis tournament is visited every year by over 500,000 fans from around the world. The Wimbledon tennis championship is also broadcast globally to millions of tennis followers on TV, Radio and other media.
The Wimbledon tennis championship starts six weeks before the first Monday in August. It lasts about a fortnight, until all events are complete. Wimbledon is the only grand slam tennis tournament to be played on grass. As it is played on grass in the open air, it is affected by rain as matches are interrupted or delayed. Delays caused by rain can affect the number of matches on certain days and the tournament can take longer depending on the weather.
