Stadium Stamford Bridge

Chelsea was established in 1905 after Gus Mears, a sports enthusiast, recognized the potential for a football club in the Chelsea area of London. Unusually, he decided to develop a ground then form a team afterwards. The ground became known as Stamford Bridge and Chelsea FC were formed to play at the new location. Before the team had even played a game they were elected to Football League Division 2. In their first season they were recording crowd attendances of 67,000 and promptly gained promotion to Division 1.

Chelsea have won the League, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Charity Shield 3 times. Also, they have won the Cup Winners Cup once. Their first league success came in 1955 but the glory years have really been since the turn of the century as they've dominated, and won the League for the past 2 seasons.

In the late 90's Chelsea were pushing for the league title but it was the acquisition of the club by Russian Billionaire Roman Abramovich that really brought the success Chelsea fans were craving. This relatively unknown man sparked the biggest pre-season spending spree the League has ever witnessed and the silverware soon followed.
