Stadium Emirates Stadium
Arsenal will be moving from Highbury to their new 60,000 capacity, state of the art, Emirates Stadium for the 2006 / 07 season. They are hoping to break rivals, Chelsea recent domination of the Premiership.
They were founded in 1886 by workers at the Woolwich Arsenal Armament Factory, South London but moved to their North London base in 1913. They turned professional in 1891 and joined the Football League in 1893. After the First World War they gained a place in the First Division and are currently enjoying the longest consecutive run in the top flight of any club (Arsenal have never been relegated).
Playing in their traditional Red and White strips, Arsenal have won the FA Cup 10 times, the League 13 times, The League Cup twice and the Charity / Community Shield 11 times. This, among with European honours, has made The Gunners one of the most successful domestic teams in the history of English football.
In 1951, Arsenal made history by being the first British club to play a game under floodlights.
