Greenford Carnival is the launching event for the Ealing Summer Festival. It is a great occasion for a family outing with day-long music, sport, dance and fun. Community spirit and the best in local entertainment join hands to create a delightful carnival atmosphere. The carnival is spread out in four areas: a main stage featuring music and dance, an acoustic stage, a sports area, and a families' area.
In the 2008 edition, the typical glitz and glamour of the Carnival was vibrantly presented by the group, Yes Brazil. Music full of ingenuity and folk sounds by the upcoming artist David Mensah's music and the talented Odd Fellas reverberated on the Main Stage and Acoustic Stage at the 2008 carnival.
Caribbean, Bollywood, Bhangra, Salsa and Latin dancers add a kaleidoscopic effect to the carnival. Churches, sports clubs, community groups and local radio stations display their tableaus which are full of colour and creativity. There are workshops for children on arts and crafts, and circus skills, where they can be at their creative and attentive best, whilst their parents can try to be children again at innovative activity challenges like the Spider Mountain, which featured in an earlier version. For tinier tots there is also a soft play area. Other regular attractions at the carnival include fashion shows, sports and funfair rides.
