Transport
The city is a major routing point and regional cross-roads, with the A30, A36, A338, A345 and A360 main roads crossing here. Traffic is notorious. The M3, A303 and A338 lead from London to Salisbury. The A36 leads from Bristol, Southampton and Portsmouth to the city.
Wilts & Dorset Bus Co Ltd (Go-Ahead Group) operates most of the routes, including the tourist attraction of Cathedral Connection between Salisbury and Winchester. The National Express operates coach service to major UK airports. Other operators include EEC Bus and South West Coaches.
Heathrow Airport is about 75 miles drive and Gatwick airport is about 100 miles drive from Salisbury. While Southampton Airport and Bournemouth Airport are about 25 miles from the city.
