Transport
To the south west of the city is Liverpool which is linked to Preston by A59. To the north is Broughton and A6 connects the city to Preston. M6 passes across the east of the city and connects to Leyland in the south. M55 motorway passes the city in the north. A59 connects Blackburn in the east as it crosses the M6 motorway at J31 junction and becomes A677.
The chief bus operators are Preston Bus, Stagecoach and John Fishwick & Sons which serve within the city and the borough. The long distance coach services are offered by Stagecoach Express, National Express, Eurolines, and Megabus.
Preston has an airport but is not used for commercial use. The nearest airports for passenger travel are Blackpool International Airport which is located only 20 miles west from the city and Manchester Airport which is a large international airport about 40 miles south-east of the city.
