The motorways M74 and M8 connect the town to Glasgow which is to the Northwest. Kilmarnock is to the Southwest and the connecting roads are M74 and A71. Edinburgh is in the east of Motherwell and M8 is the linking road. M74 is the linking motorway to the towns in its south.
