A23 connects the town to London in the north, via M23. Northern A27 links Hove with Eastbourne to the east and with Portsmouth to the west. Brighton is about 1.9 miles eastwards from Brighton, via A259.
Brighton and Hove Bus Company (Go Ahead) operates a comprehensive bus service around the town and nearby places. National Express operates the London to Worthing route. Stagecoach Coastline operates the Arundel to Brighton route. Stagecoach Hastings operate the Southsea to Brighton route.

The town is about 11 miles from the Newhaven Ferry Terminal. Ferry crossing offered are:
