The M4 motorway is 16 kilometres far from the city. The A4 and A36 roads run through Bath. One can approach Bath from the M4, by leaving the motorway at junction 18 and following the A46 south 12 kilometres to the Bath exit.The city centre can be approached via the A4 or the A36 eastbound following signs to "Warminster", " Claverton Down", "American Museum" and "Park & Ride (University)". Bath can be approached from the A36 (northbound) following signs to "Claverton Down".
Bath is connected to various British cities by a coach service run by National Express. The address of the starting point of the coaches is : Bath Spa bus station, Avon St car park, Bath and NE Somerset. Internally bus routes are run by the First Group. Bath Bus Company operates the Bath City Sightseeing tour, and the Skyline Tour in conjunction with the National Trust.
Bath does not have an airport so Bristol International Airport is the nearest airport which can easily be accessed by taxi, bus or by rail via Bristol Temple Meads or Nailsea and Backwell.
The nearest ferry port to Bath is Poole Ferry Port. Condor Ferries is the operator here.
