Getting to your holiday cottage or self catering accommodation

Most holiday cottages and self catering accommodation are in the country or a rural location. You may not have the convenience of driving right up to your own front door as you do in the city. Getting to your accommodation and parking may not be straightforward so check the details with the holiday cottage owner or self catering accommodation booking agency, especially if you have a car with low clearance.

Many properties are in unique settings, so the access may not be on a metalled road. If the access to the property is down a track, it may be stated in the description. Some tracks will be challenging or unsuitable for vehicles with low ground clearance. If you have such a vehicle or have any other concerns about parking or the access to the property, please ask the holiday cottage owner or self catering accommodation booking agency who will be able to provide you with more details.

Most cottages have car parking space/s close by, but at some you may need to carry your luggage a short distance. Some cottages also have steep or irregular steps or footpaths to the front door which have been retained as an essential part of the character of the property. Others are in secluded situations and can only be reached by driving down an unmade track.

For those without cars
Many holiday cottages and self catering accommodation are in areas which are not served by a good bus service. However we do have some holiday cottages and self catering accommodation that are on the edge of larger villages or towns which are on regular bus routes.
