Woodpecker Cottage
Barnacre Cottages is a small, private, exclusive hamlet of five luxury 5* Gold cottages of which Woodpecker is our largest property.
Set in our own 14 acres of fields surrounded by woodland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Down a quiet country lane in a child friendly location in beautiful countryside, with lots of visiting wildlife.
Standing on the brow of the hill at the top of the seven-acre field, built in 2006 the large detached Woodpecker Cottage, enjoys panoramic views towards the coast and the Lake District.
This spacious and light filled kitchen/living/dining area, has french doors leading out to the raised balcony overlooking woodland with outdoor seating. A fully equipped hand painted and oak Mark Wilkinson Cooks kitchen. 4 oven Aga, microwave, dishwasher, large American fridge/freezer, granite work surfaces.
There is Sky television, a dining table which can seat 14 and comfy Natuzzi leather sofas.
Opening from this area, steps lead down to a new conservatory/orangery,added in 2012, which has a huge magnificent stone fireplace with wood burning stove. There are french doors opening to a new bbq area and covered seating.
Also, on the ground floor are two bedrooms, one a double room with king size bed and en suite bath and shower room. The other a twin/family bedroom with 1 double and 1 single bed and large en suite wet room type shower room. Both of these bedrooms are suitable for guests with mobility restrictions.
Additional cloakroom with toilet, washbasin, and laundry machines.
The first floor comprises a huge L shaped family bedroom, containing a king-size bed and two single beds in an alcove, plus a seating area, plenty of space for a travel cot if needed and an en-suite with both bath and shower hose. Another family room has a double and a single bed with en suite shower room, a further twin bedroom with 2 single beds, en suite shower room and a small single bedroom particularly suitable for a child..
The cottage has two outdoor seating areas, ideal for bbqs and magnificent views across the countryside to the coast and Blackpool Tower in the distance.
There is an all weather tennis court and childrens play area with swings, slide, climbing frame, playhouse and fort. Lawned area for ball games.
With free ranging pet chickens, pony and pet lambs around Easter time.
Great walks from our door through footpaths, woodland and country lanes. The small market town of Garstang a 35 minute walk. Lots of local attractions and places to visit, country fairs and festivals.. Great restaurants and eating places.
In an ideal location, for easy access to the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, the cities of Manchester and Liverpool just an hours drive away. Further afield are the historic cities of Chester, York, Harrogate
Busy Blackpool 35 minutes away at the coast, has many attractions including the beach, roller coasters and the famous illuminations along the promenade in Autumn.
