Dinefwr Cottage
Nestling in the peaceful, unspoilt countryside of the Towy Valley and overlooked by the twelfth century Dinefwr Castle, Llety Mieri offers 3 award-winning self-catering cottages for all the family.
In an idyllic rural setting, two miles from the historic and quirky town of Llandeilo, it is an ideal base for visiting Wales. It is within easy reach of the breath-taking scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park, the beaches of West Wales and the splendid gardens of the Towy valley. The National Botanic Gardens of Wales, with its great glasshouse, and Aberglasney Gardens are just minutes away. The bustling town of Carmarthen and the city of Swansea are both easily reached by car.
Named after local castles, Carreg Cennen, Dinefwr and Dryslwyn the three cottages have been converted from the original farm outbuildings. An old stone threshing barn has been converted into a games room with table tennis, snooker and a selection of children's toys.
The cottages are all single-storey and built of traditional Welsh stone. Each has its own parking and patio area with garden furniture, set around a central courtyard next to a old orchard where our guests can barbeque in the summer, pick fruit in the autumn or simply watch the deer grazing at dusk. The orchard, which is a haven for wildlife, has apple, pear, plum and cherry trees and is surrounded by ancient oak trees.
Guests can enjoy themselves fishing for sewin (sea trout) on the renowned Towy River, bird watching (the red kite can often be seen hovering over Dinefwr Castle) and walking.
There is a games room with table tennis, snooker, books and toys for small children. Behind the games room is a large enclosed lawned area with picnic tables for guests use. It is a wonderful place for bird watchers to sit and watch the many different birds that nest in the orchard.
Llandeilo, with its shops and cafes is only 2 miles away.
The cottage is named after the romantic ruins of Dinefwr Castle that sit on the hill that overlooks the cottages.
Dinefwr cottage has 3 bedrooms, 1 double and 2 single, sleeping 4 people in comfort. It is perfect for a small family, a couple or a romantic weekend break or a group of friends.
