Trains and a ferry cross the Mawddach Estuary to Barmouth for family fun; walk or take the cycle trail to Dolgellau via the RSPB reserves, or step onto the Wales Coast Path from outside the front door. A steam railway, sailing, golf and fishing are available locally, Coed Y Brenin is close by and Bala provides whitewater rafting.
