Surrounded by acres of forestry land, Darwin Lake lies betwixt craggy moorland offering panoramic views and the beautiful Derwent Valley, now a World Heritage site. Discover a lovely woodland walk around the lake as well as cycling and walking from the door. Magnificent Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall (perhaps the most perfect house to survive from the Middle Ages), Matlock Bath – home of the Heights of Abraham with its cable cars and Great Masson showcave tours – the High Peak Cycle Trail (with cycle hire), Arkwright’s famous Mill at Cromford and Gulliver’s Kingdom family theme park are all under 6 miles, whilst Alton Towers is an hour’s drive.
