Duck’s Retreat, so named because it overlooks a pretty lake that provides a safe sanctuary for birdlife is a delightful 18th century whitewashed cottage situated on the beautiful Yealm Estuary, just a mile or so upstream from Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo in South Devon.  Picture perfect this traditional cottage has plenty to recommend it, with climbing roses, beams, oak floors, a cosy woodburner, a dining area overlooking the lake as well as a sunny rear terrace with lovely views.  There is a wooded path that leads around the lake finishing at a seat on the breakwater, a perfect way of relaxing in total tranquillity. Try your luck at fishing or crabbing or bring your kayaks and launch them from the lake breakwater to explore this peaceful estuary or enjoy a bracing walk along the nearby scenic South West Coastal path.  Alternatively jump in the car to explore the many attractions that Devon, Cornwall and historic Plymouth have to offer as the cottage is perfectly located to access the many attractions in either county.

Accommodation:

Porch. Cosy sitting room with woodburner stove and views of the estuary. Twin sofas and TV with DVD, VHS and Sky digital. Kitchen with electric hob, oven under, dishwasher and microwave. Utility room with fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Second lounge/snug with sofa and armchair with step up to the dining area seating 6, overlooking the lake. Cloakroom with hand basin and WC. First Floor: Double bedroom with 5ft bed and hand basin. Twin bedroom with two 3ft single beds, sofa and hand basin. Single bedroom with 3ft bed and family bathroom with bath, electric shower over, hand basin and WC.

Outside:

A rear terrace runs along the back of the cottage overlooking the water equipped with garden table and chairs. A 200 yards path descends from the cottage to a children’s play area with picnic tables and the path continues through woodland to the other side of the lake and to the end of the breakwater.

Parking: For up to 2 cars.
