Close by is the nature reserve at Rye Harbour – also an excellent spot for fishing and sailing – whilst a little further afield lie Battle Abbey, romantic Bodiam Castle, Great Dixter and Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens. Day trips by rail to France depart from Ashford, 20 miles. Shops and pubs 400 yards.
