Divorcee Margaret (Rachel Griffiths) lives a solitary life in Dublin, where she owns a charity shop and enjoys a daily dip in the public pool. Her world is turned upside down when ex-husband Matt (Michael McElhatton) reveals that their 18-year-old son has been found dead. At the pool, Margaret meets Joe (Barry Keoghan), a young homeless man she once assisted when she found him unconscious in a deserted lane. She generously offers him her spare room, but their unorthodox developing relationship is threatened by Matt's grief-driven rage and Joe's involvement with a violent gang.
