Carmilla
Based on the 19th-century Gothic novella penned by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, Carmilla is a period horror directed by Emily Harris, which chronicles a 15-year-old's sexual awakening. Lara Bauer (Hannah Rae) is raised by strict governess Miss Fontaine (Jessica Raine) following the death of her mother. The girl's father (Greg Wise) is often too busy to provide his daughter with emotional support so the teenager fends for herself. She eagerly looks forward to a visit from good friend Charlotte. Unfortunately, Charlotte falls ill and Lara is resigned to more weeks of solitude. A mysterious girl (Devrim Lingnau) arrives unexpectedly on the doorstep claiming not to remember who she is. Miss Fontaine and Lara take in the stranger and christen her Carmilla. The teenagers become inseparable and powerful desires are kindled behind closed doors.
