The Man In The Hat
The breathtaking landscapes of France enrich a fitful journey of self-discovery in a gently paced comedy drama co-written and co-directed by Stephen Warbeck and John-Paul Davidson. The Man in the Hat (Ciaran Hinds) hastily packs a suitcase into his compact blue Fiat 500 and leaves behind his old life in Marseilles. There is a photograph of an unknown woman on the passenger seat and a Citroen Dyane containing five angry men pursues him relentlessly through sun-dappled hills and valleys. As he travels north to the sounds of Otis Redding, The Man in the Hat encounters enigmatic strangers including The Damp Man (Stephen Dillane), The Chef (Muna Otaru) and The Biker (Maiwenn). These eccentric figures shepherd The Man in the Hat towards a comforting realisation about the present, which may help to lay to rest beautiful yet haunting ghosts of the past.
