Hurt by Paradise
Shot in black and white, director Greta Bellamacina's debut feature is a love letter to London and the bonds between female friends. Single mother Celeste (Bellamacina) lives in the capital with her young son, dreaming of a successful career as a poet. While she woos publishers around the city, next-door neighbour Stella (Sadie Brown) faithfully babysits Celeste's son when she should be attending auditions to further her dream of becoming an actor. An unconventional friendship propels both women forwards. Meanwhile, Stella conducts an online romance with a charming guy called Roman, who she has never met in person.
