In the Line of Duty
Aaron Eckhart plays a police officer in search of redemption in a high-stakes thriller directed by Stephen C Miller. Chief of Police Volk (Giancarlo Esposito) is distraught when Max Keller (James Hutchison) kidnaps his 11-year-old daughter Claudia (Nichelle Williams) and holds her hostage in a confined space. Volk works with his team to apprehend Max but the operation goes sour and world-weary officer Frank Penny (Eckhart) kills the suspect, eliminating the only hope of rescuing little Claudia. Frank is stripped of his badge and publicly castigated for his actions. Consumed with guilt, Frank teams up with ambitious reporter Ava Brooks (Courtney Eaton), who is live-streaming the search, to locate the stricken girl. Their quest is complicated when Max's brother Dean (Ben McKenzie) enters the fray to avenge his fallen sibling using deadly force.
