Permission

An Iranian wife faces a titanic battle to assert her rights and chase sporting dreams in a powerful drama based on real events, directed by Soheil Beiraghi. Afrooz (Baran Kosari) proudly leads her country's national Futsal squad, who are poised to compete against other teams at the Asia Cup finals in Malaysia. As she goes through security at Tehran airport, Afrooz is detained while the rest of the team boards the flight. It transpires that her embittered husband Yaser (Amir Jadidi), a famous TV host who is enraged by his wife's emancipation, has denied her the right to leave. In Iran, women must gain the permission of their husbands to travel so Afrooz is trapped in her homeland. Supported by good friend Masi (Hoda Zeinolabedin), Afrooz attempts to persuade Yaser to let her go to the competition, which will also require her to challenge the conservative views of the national Futsal federation. When flattery and reason fail to sway closed minds, Afrooz turns to lawyer Pantea (Leili Rashidi) to plead her case.
