Chained for Life
Appearances sow the seeds of intolerance and prejudice in writer-director Aaron Schimberg's tender drama. A notorious German director (Charlie Korsmo) oversees production of his latest film, God's Mistakes, about a mad scientist and his nurse sidekick, who intend to remedy the physical deformities of their patients. Beautiful ingenue Mabel (Jess Weixler) is cast in the picture alongside actor Max (Stephen Plunkett) and inexperienced co-stars, who have physical disabilities in real life. One of these actors, Rosenthal (Adam Pearson), who has neurofibromatosis, attempts to befriend Mabel in the hope that she can help him learn his lines. Initially, she cannot look Rosenthal in the eye. However, Rosenthal's humility and kindness calm her fears and she works closely with him to hone his craft in front of the camera.
