Tehran: City of Love
Director Ali Jaberansari explores love and loss in present-day Iran in a triptych of bittersweet stories. Vahid (Mehdi Saki) sings at funerals to pay his way. When his girlfriend breaks up with him, he takes the advice of friends and begins to sing at weddings instead. Meanwhile, beauty clinic receptionist Mina (Forough Ghajabagli) warmly greets clients but her smile conceals deep-rooted unhappiness about her weight. She lives out her fantasy life by creating an online persona to communicate with men she meets at her work. Also, retired bodybuilder Hessam (Amir Hessam Bakhtiari) is delighted to be cast in a film, which is shooting in Tehran. The lead is French actor Louis Garrel but Hessam and the rest of the crew have never heard of the star.
