Yves Saint Laurent: The Last Collections
Olivier Meyrou's documentary was filmed almost 20 years ago as Yves Saint Laurent worked tirelessly on a final collection for his haute couture house in Paris. Over the course of three turbulent years, cameras observe the shifting power dynamic between Laurent and his business and life partner, Pierre Berge, who helps to coordinate a small army of seamstresses and backroom staff responsible for translating designs into impeccably tailored pieces for the catwalk. Alternative between colour footage and black and white, the documentary examines the inner workings of a fashion house as its talisman becomes increasingly frail and reclusive.
