What You Gonna Do When the World's on Fire?
Shot in black and white, Roberto Minervini's documentary weaves together four stories of prejudice and triumph of black men and women living in southern states of present-day America. His subjects include Krystal Muhammad, chairperson for the New Black Panther Party for Self Defence in Louisiana and Texas, who inspires members to combat racism in every walk of life, 14-year-old Ronaldo and his nine-year-old brother Titus from Mississippi, who are blissfully unaware of the harsh reality that awaits them, and 50-year-old Judy from New Orleans, whose popular bar Ooh Poo Pah Doo is one of the casualties of rapid gentrification in a city that remains divided almost 15 years after Hurricane Katrina.
