A Bump Along the Way
An unexpected pregnancy builds bridges between a mother and her teenage daughter in director Shelly Love's poignant comedy drama. Ballsy single mother Pamela (Bronagh Gallagher) celebrates her 44th birthday in style with copious bottles of Prosecco. In the midst of this alcohol-fuelled reverie, she has unprotected sex with 24-year-old plumber Barry (Andy Doherty) in the back of his van. The one-night stand results in Pamela falling pregnant, to the intense embarrassment of her 15-year-old daughter Allegra (Lola Petticrew). The virginal teenager is mortified by her mother's behaviour and the impending arrival of new life creates friction at home. Over time, Pamela makes a breakthrough with Allegra and helps her daughter to chart her own path at school.
