Strangers fake romance for the sake of appearances in a Hindi-language drama written and directed by Ritesh Batra. Rafi (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) works in Mumbai as a street photographer to pay off an outstanding family debt. His grandmother (Farrukh Jaffar) repeatedly pressures him to find a nice girl and settle down but Rafi doesn't have time to devote to matters of the heart. In order to placate his grandmother, Rafi sends her a picture of a stranger called Miloni (Sanya Malhotra) and foolishly claims the girl is his fiancee. The news is music to grandmother's ears and she prepares to visit Rafi and meet his beloved. Rather than admit his lie, Rafi tracks down Miloni and persuades her to pretend to be his girlfriend during his grandmother's visit. As the couple spends more time together, the seeds of genuine romance blossom.
